about

Uplifting and full of hope, ’28 Days’ tells the story of a breakup timeline. From shock to acceptance, the candid song brings the listener on a journey. The song was recorded with Michael Mormecca and Danny Trouton at Tree Song Studios in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland.

“The inspiration behind this song branches from a timeline I see a lot on social media, with the idea that challenging yourself to do something or going without something for as long as 28 days creates a habit of it. I used this concept when writing the lyrics and based them on a breakup I was going through at the time. It’s about feeling lost, finding myself again and eventually being able to break the habit.” Quote from Eilís on writing ’28 Days’.

lyrics

That first day, it hadn’t hit me yet
When tomorrow came, my brain could not forget
By day three, I’m questioning
All we had as I packed up your things

Day by day I tick off my list
it takes twenty-eight days to break a habit

Halfway in, I miss your name on my phone
I feel so lost doing this alone
And isn’t it strange I’ll always know your middle name?
I almost hopped off at your stop on the train, oh

It’s hard to think these rituals still exist
it takes twenty-eight days to break

Older now and I know I feel better now than I ever will
I’ve picked up all the pieces, forgave all your reasons

My hands slowly start to lose their grip
Now you’re just a passing thought in my daily drift
One month along now I can admit
It takes twenty-eight days
twenty-eight days
It takes twenty-eight days to break a habit
